Pollok House Wedding in Winter

Kirsty and John chose to have a private, exclusive wedding for close family in Pollok House in Glasgow.

Marrying in winter is always a gamble as to whether there will be enough light (and heat!) so Kirsty, John and I discussed the idea of a first look before the wedding ceremony to enable us to take some portraits of them in the beautiful surroundings of Pollok Park, an award winning country estate in the south side of Glasgow.  Having their ceremony later in the day meant that we would have had only half an hour of light so a decision was made to meet up earlier in the day on the old bridge over the river Cart for John and Kirsty to have a first look, a moment where they see each other for the first time on their wedding day in a private place away from family and friends to capture that moment just for them.

We then spent a lovely time walking back to Pollok House, stopping to make the most of the beautiful winter light that Glasgow pulled out of the hat for the day.

The wedding ceremony was personal, meaningful and emotional – I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house!  What a fabulous way to have a wedding.  Congratulations Kirsty and John!
